The vector expansion clip can be mounted on any other cap (tried it myself) and it works quite the same as good (naturalpoint cap has a reflective target in the middle of it so in tandem with the vector expansion clip it does catch the signal easier and smoother then other caps) I would still admit that 20 $ for it is maybe a bit to steep.
